I've noticed quite a few ddo members have joined debateisland. Which site do you prefer? Is debate island better than ddo?
DDO is dying and Juggle seems to be (not saying they aren't doing anything saying seems) doing next to nothing about it.
DI is growing and the admin is actively push out out new updates and listening to feedback every single month or at most 2 months.
If DDO picks up the pace, I'd say it could easily be on par. Where DDO has 'socialising' DI has 'seriousness' about debating. The two could work in a healthy rivalry like microsoft and apple etc.
It's honestly difficult to compare them. I feel like debateisland has a lot of potential, and I apprecaite @aarong for the amount of work he puts into it and how quickly he responds to problems. He puts on tournaments and is doing a solid job of building out the site. But it's difficult to compare with DDO because of the community we built there, and the resulting benefits and difficulties that came along with it. It remains to be seen how this site will handle a larger community, particularly if many more people from DDO migrate over. I think the site is up to the task, and particularly as a community really starts to build a presence here, I think we'll get to see how strong of a community this can become.

Anywhere is better than DDO right about now. In protest I'm never saying the word "juggle" again because there's a 0.00000001% chance it could grow the brand. I am now going to call jugglers "ball tossers". No, that sounds dirty. I'll think of something.
@janesix Hey! good to see yal, I've been checking it out not too familiar with it totally yet. It is much slower but that's because the threads don't have the same trolls destroying every discussion and insulting everyone the members actually have to discuss the topics so in that regard it's much better....besides we can get this place rollin!

@janesix So... i like the little options below i can pick from. Always thought a thumbs up or down kinda thing would be a good add on for DDO. Besides from that, this site is laggy and i am not too found of the layout.
Two more things i just noticed. The picture / avatar covers your name and the picture itself is blurry... tisk tisk. My glorious picture is blurry. That makes me sad.

I'm at work so i'm not sure. I think it is windows 7. Another thing, does this site notify you when someone replies to your post? I happened to be checking this thread and saw your comment... didn't get a notification.
@Outplayz it does as I quoted you direct but also it will notify even like this. It's not live notification though and requires a refresh of the pagr. Especially on windows 7.
@someone234 I use Chrome. I can use anything i want, but i like Chrome the best. So i got a notification for this most recent reply. Maybe the one before was just a bug.
It overlays my name on the main page where all the threads are and whoever the most recent poster is... their name is covered by their picture. That is just a small thing, it's still annoying though. Other than that, i am really disliking the layout. The AI analytics is annoying. DDO flowed comment to comment. But this one has a bunch of junk bw each comment. And since i am mainly a reader and not a poster... i don't like that layout. It flows much better on DDO comment to comment. But... i am really liking that you can edit your comment and those little TU/TD type buttons for the comments.

Please screenshot the 'latest poster' overlay glitch and upload the image here.
New here myself, just decided to join from DDO. Wasn't an easy choice, but with the declining state of DDO this website seemed the best suited to moving to. It has the same core functionalities, some cool extra bells and whistles when it comes to formatting posts, and already had a community.
I wrote a post on DDO about it that's a bit more detailed. But seems y'all have a good site.
Even if the damn blown up images for each post slow loading times considerably
@Buddamoose Welcome to the site. There is absolutely nothing about the usage of this website that excludes your usage of DDO or even other debating sites but it is true that DDO is blatantly not putting up a fight where this is thriving and there's no point in being loyal to something that has no intention of rewarding you for said loyalty even in a karmic manner.
Almost all warriors must die some day and all great things will decay at some point even due to new tech outperforming them. DDO is going extinct and that's fine.
I can't. That is the best i could do without spending too much time not doing work lol. I have two monitors, so print screen catches both. You should still be able to see the glitch in any case.

Try this. If you truly can't zoom out.
Stretch it THINNER until it flips into a cell-phone looking format. You will notice it snaps the images apart from the text.
I do not know a better solution and I will tell Aaron to read this thread.
So i think the replies that you quote me aren't being picked up in the notifications, bc your last reply wasn't in my notifications.
For the other problem, just wait until you can look at it on a laptop or desktop... you should be able to see it on a bigger screen. I don't have time to figure out how to do it any other way.
@Outplayz You are dragging it in a way that's suboptimal to the formatting and I admit that's a flaw in the way the image 'moves' relative to the rest of the page's items. The image slides in an 'absolute' manner whereas the rest of the page scales relative.

Okay... yeah, that one wasn't clicked so that should fix it.
When i stretch the page out to both screens it fixes the problem. Maybe it's bc i have two monitors and the site is reading it as the screen being minimized.
@Outplayz I agree that the default should be that's ticked. I honestly believe it used to be as I don't recall altering that but aarong may have got info people get irritated by it more often than want it and altered the default.
As I said I've asked him to read this thread, he'll be sure to take an interest in the feedback.
I believe that it is a monitor issue, yes. I'm sorry that more can't be done to solve the overlay appearance. Is there anyrhany else that's irritating aesthetically?

@Outplayz If people QUOTE in chains, you can extend the chains and in your settings even can alter how many quotes 'up the chain' is the default it gets cut down to at first for you.

All you have to do is ignore that person. That's not nice, it's not cool... but, people are cruel. You should learn how to come back at them, but with grace. It teaches you how to put someone in their place and be able to keep your humility and cool at the same time. I love it when someone comes at me like that bc i know they are the weak ones and/or they are the one's being intimidated or threatened by what i am saying. In conclusion, i hope someone here comes at me like that bc i am already well prepared to fire back. It builds your confidence and at the same time... helps you reflect. Bc, instead of running you should understand why someone would say that to you. Otherwise you haven't grown in any way.

Okay both of you have a point here but just to be crystal clear the 'toughen up' ethos is NOT what DI endorses. If anyone says anything like this they will get banned here. You can say humans perhaps don't inherently have the right to live but if you try to say someone specific on this site would be better off dead etc it won't be tolerated.
Much less trolling here on DI. DDO was getting far too ..... to engage with anyone, bc you could always depend on one of the many idiots chiming in with absolute nonsense. Not many of those trolls had any idea re debate protocol ...... not saying this is a much better venue re that, but there seems to be an inherent respect for others, which was not evident on DDO.

This is a much better venue and the culture is due to brutal punishment of even 'subtle' or 'indirect-taunting' style trolling as well as major encouragement to get positive emotes on one's post and positive feedback from others (and an active giving of it in reaction to good, polite debating).
